Red-dot and reflex sights are extremely popular sighting solutions for a variety of reasons. They allow for fast target acquisition, quick transitions between targets and pin-point accuracy.

The light weight and small size of a red-dot or a reflex sight means they can be mounted on a variety of firearms such as shotguns, rifles or handguns, and they are built around an illuminated aiming point which can help you make the shot in many different lighting situations. Now Hawke Optics is building on the success of their new line of its red dots and reflex sights and is coming out with its new Red Dot Riser with Quick Release.

Getting the proper alignment between your eye and the bullet path is crucial in making your firearm and sight combination work for an accurate shot. With riflescopes, you can buy scope rings of different heights to adjust your sightline. If you use a red dot or similar optic, the Hawke Optics Red Dot Riser can help you get your shots on target.

This quick-release mount attaches to your existing Picatinny rail and raises the height of the red-dot sight to give you a better cheek weld or co-witness with your iron sights. This riser is a one-piece construction, 2.5 inches long, and weighs just 2.3 ounces. The tool-less removal of this allows you to remove the optic if it becomes damaged or obstructs the field of view in a critical situation. A quick release riser also provides an easy solution for moving optics between platforms.

MIM Myths

Metal-injection molding (MIM) creates complex, durable and reliable metal parts in things we use daily. Its ability to churn out high volumes at reduced cost endeared it to the firearm industry decades ago. Despite that fact, gun companies we asked about the process were tight lipped.
