Review: Mission First Tactical Wallet

I’m somewhat of a traditionalist when it comes to wallets. I prefer leather, bi-fold, with a separate section for cash money and a clear ID section. Yes, it’s old-school, I know; I also know that there are about a zillion good reasons why newer materials and designs are superior. Still, though, I can’t shake the old ways. Like the line in Fahrenheit 451 goes, I hate a Roman named Status Quo. Hold on, though, I’m going somewhere with this .

Mission First Tactical released its line of polymer wallets last year, and while I’ve been a huge fan of Mission First Tactical’s gear, my aforementioned love of cowhide for my daily wallet needs kept me from fully appreciating the new line. Oh, sure, the many different designs appeal to the liberty-minded, of course; there’s the traditional American flag motif, the Don’t Tread on Me Gadsden and numerous others (Mission First Tactical was kind enough to provide a limited run of Shooting Illustrated wallets, even). But, again, like I said, I prefer good ol’ leather.

However, there are two instances where I have really taken a shine to these polymer wallets.

First off, they make wonderful business card holders. They’re sturdy, nearly indestructible and offer a quite-unique presentation. Roughly 15 cards will fit in the thinner wallets (a larger size capable of two dozen cards will be available soon), a decent complement for a day out of the office. Getting a standard-thickness business card into or out of the wallet takes a little practice, but it’s easy to get straight once you get the hang of it.

The second instance is when traveling.

One of the things I really like about my big, “Constanza”-like leather wallet is that I can keep everything with me — health insurance cards, shooting range membership card, AMA card, AAA card; all of these items can be on my person at all times.

However, when traveling, it’s far better to keep a minimalist loadout. ID, single credit card and a reasonable amount of paper currency is really all I need for a quick business trip. These polymer wallets are excellent for keeping everything safe and secure when pared down to the bare minimum while on the go.

Whatever your interest, whatever your use, there’s plenty of reasons to check out the Mission First Tactical wallet. Whether you’re declaring your support for the Second Amendment, your love of the United States or even unicorns and rainbows (seriously!), Mission First has it covered.
