Over the past few years, Ruger’s AR-pattern rifles have made a name for themselves as reliable and affordable guns that are up to almost any task. Ruger is now expanding its line of AR-style firearms with the introduction of the company's new AR-556 Pistol. The AR-556 Pistol takes all of the value and features of the Ruger AR-556 rifle line and shrinks them down to a more compact, more manageable size.

The AR-556 Pistol features an adjustable SB Tactical SBA3 Pistol Stabilizing Brace attached to the end of the buffer tube, aiding stability and accuracy. The 10.5-inch barrel has a carbine-length gas block and has a flash suppressor that’s affixed with a 1/2-28 TPI thread, allowing for the attachment of most common muzzle devices. Chambered in 5.56 NATO, which allows it use both 5.56 NATO and .223 Rem. ammunition, it has a 1:8-inch twist rate allowing it to shoot bullet weights from 35 to 77 grains and M4 feed ramps for maximum reliability.

The lower receiver on the Ruger AR-556 Pistol is built from forged 7075-T6 aluminum, and the upper receiver has a forward assist, brass deflector and dust cover. The upper is topped with a Picatinny rail to allow for the quick and easy attachment of a wide range of optics and other accessories. The 9-inch long handguard is topped with a Picatinny rail, with M-Lok rails along the sides. The pistol also weighs in at 6.2 pounds, and the Ruger AR-556 ships with one Magpul 30-round magazine.
