New for 2018: Springfield Armory TRP 10 mm RMR

Springfield Armory upped its 10 mm offerings in 2018 by linking up with Trijicon to bring its powerhouse 1911 pistol into the 21st century. The all-new Springfield Armory TRP RMR chambered in 10 mm comes equipped with a Trijicon RMR reflex sight milled into the slide, providing consumers with a fast, easy way to aim their longslide handgun.

“A strong optic that mirrors the robust, yet finely-detailed qualities of the TRP line was crucial in determining what red-dot we decided to offer our consumers,” Springfield Armory CEO Dennis Reese said. “Easier targeting and sight acquisition makes a difference in the seconds when it matters most, and we are proud to offer the Trijicon RMR on our 10 mm TRP.”

Two models of the RMR-equipped TRPs are offered to consumers, one with a 6-inch barrel and the other with a 5-inch barrel. Both are built on National Match frames made from forged steel and paired up with the company's National Match slides. Inside the slides, users will find stainless-steel barrels, which are fully supported. The frames and slides are finished in the company's Black-T finish designed to ward off wear and corrosion.

On the frame of both pistol models, users will find the company's trademarked Posi-Lock texturing on both the front strap and mainspring housing designed to give users a secure grip and enhanced control. The guns are equipped with a TechWell magazine well that facilitates rapid reloads without adding more contours and bulk to the frame. Each pistol is also equipped with an ambidextrous safety and features the company's Gen 2 Speed trigger, providing owners with a clean-breaking trigger weighted between 4.5-5 pounds.

When selecting an optic to mount on the gun, engineers needed an electronic sight that was proven to stand up to the punishing recoil of the 10 mm cartridge. The Trijicon RMR was selected, thanks to its battle-proven design that can easily withstand the conditions created by the 10 mm pistol. Each sight is machined from 7075-T6 aluminum and is specially designed to divert recoil energy and other impacts away from the lens.

Each Springfield Armory TRP RMR 10 mm 1911 ships with two 9-round magazines. The suggested retail price on the pistols starts at $2,507.
