While thermal and night-vision optics have been gaining ground in recent years, professionals, hunters and shooters have always had to swap out night-vision gear for day optics with the rising sun, adding extra bulk and time-consuming maintenance needs to their kit. The all-new Meprolight NYX-200 Weapon Sight eliminates this step, combining night-vision technology into a digital day camera for all-around use.

“Modern battlefield challenges force soldiers to carry an expanding array of systems, sensors, and equipment," said Benny Kokia, VP of marketing and sales for Meprolight. "The weight of this equipment and the need to operate a variety of devices reduces mission effectiveness and may compromise soldier safety. To solve these issues and improve the modern soldier's operation, we developed the MEPRO NYX-200.”

The unique design of the NYX-200 is available in two different setups, one of which combines a thermal channel with a digital night camera and another model combines the thermal setup with a digital day camera. The entire package is designed to be lightweight and meet MIL-810 survivability standards, ensuring that the optic can handle battlefield conditions.

“This solution replaces at least four different systems currently carried by the average soldier," Kokia said. "It allows ongoing work, 24/7, in all environments and weather conditions – meeting the demands of the modern battlefield and increasing mission effectiveness.”

The Meprolight NYX-200 is uncooled, ensuring that it's lightweight and compact enough for use by military and law-enforcement without over-encumbering their kit. The system operates on a main thermal setting that incorporates a 640x480 core sensor with an impressive 17-micron pixel size. For daytime or nighttime use, the camera provides a second channel with a resolution of 1280x640.

In addition to the choice of a day camera or night camera, consumers also have the option of having a 1X or 2X camera. Each model of the NYX-200 runs on four AA batteries, giving it a nominal battery life of up to 7 hours in continuous operation.
