SilencerCo expanded its suppressor lineup in 2018 with the launch of the all-new Chimera. This new sound-suppression option is built with durability and heavy-duty use in mind, thanks to its its enhanced design that allows for use across a range of platforms.

The Chimera is constructed from a combination of fully welded, heavy-duty materials, including stainless steel, Inconel and a blast baffle constructed from durable Stellite. This allows the can to be used on everything from .22 Hornet all the way up to .300 Win. Mag. without issue. In fact, the Chimera is full-auto rated, so it can handle the abuse that comes with heavy use and magnum-caliber cartridges.

However, principally, the SilencerCo Chimera was built for use on short-barreled-rifle platforms. Its heavy-duty design means that there are no barrel-length restrictions, so consumers can mount their Chimera onto any short-barreled rifle or AR pistol without fear of damaging the suppressor from excess propellant burn inside the suppressor when combined with short-length guns.

Best of all, the new Chimera is compatible with all existing Saker ASR mounts, as well as the company’s Saker muzzle devices and front caps, meaning that owners of the company’s popular Saker lineup can add this can to their collection without having to add new mounts.

The overall length of the Chimera measures in at 6.9 inches, with a diameter of 1.6 inches. Its heavy-duty construction weighs in at 20.1 ounces. In terms of noise reduction, the company claims a rating of as little as 125.8 decibels with .300 BLK and as much as 141.6 decibels on rifles chambered in .300 Win. Mag. When used on a 5.56-NATO chambered rifle, the decibel rating came in at 135.3 decibels, while a .308 Win. rifle measured 136.8 decibels. All ratings provided by the company were measured at the muzzle.

Each SilencerCo Chimera ships with a 5/8x24 TPI ASR muzzle brake and retails at a suggested price of $1,030.
