Trailblazer Firearms, a new firearm company based in North Carolina, introduced its first handgun: the LifeCard. The LifeCard is a single-shot pistol chambered in .22 LR and folds into a compact size that is no larger than a credit card.

"Trailblazer Firearms fully intends to spearhead innovative new firearms products starting with the LifeCard, available later this month," said Aaron Voigt, president of Trailblazer Firearms. "New designs and true innovation have been the exception and our goal is to be the pioneer laying new trails for gun enthusiasts, designers and manufacturers."

The Trailblazer Firearms LifeCard pistol is constructed from aluminum billet, which is machined into a separate frame and grip handle. The gun features a hard-anodized finish. To fire the gun, users must unfold the pistol from its credit-card shaped storage position. The grip handle pivots down, filling the hand and revealing a trigger, which actuates the gun's single-shot mechanism. The pistol is loaded via a tilt-up barrel. The barrel, bolt and trigger are all constructed from steel and features an Isonite finish in order to stave off corrosion.

The company calls its single-shot .22 LifeCard the "last gun you'll leave behind." With its compact, lightweight design, users can carry it anywhere on the body. The pistol measures 3.375 inches long, 2.125 inches high and features a .5-inch thickness. The weight of the gun totals less than 7 ounces. In addition to the round loaded in the chamber, the LifeCard also features grip storage space for four additional .22-LR cartridges.

The concept for the Trailblazer Firearms LifeCard began in 2010, when company founder Voigt developed the concept for the gun.

"Initially, I had no idea that going from concept to actual product would take seven years, but in essence, that time spent was valuable and will show in every aspect of this remarkable product. I am looking forward to putting this pistol on the market and can't thank my family and friends enough for all the support and patience," Voigt said.

The Trailblazer Firearms LifeCard begins shipment to dealers in mid-August 2017. The suggested retail price on the gun is $399.
