First Look: DoubleStar Fang Blade

DoubleStar announced the release of its new Fang Blade, designed by professional knife designer Robert Cabrera to be the ideal knife for everyday carry.

The new Fang Blade is constructed with a tanto blade point, along with a chisel-ground edge that provides users with simplified maintenance and cleaning, as well as improved piercing capabilities. The blade and handle are both finished with the company's proprietary Dragon Hyde diamond-like coating, along with specially textured G10 handles.

The Fang also features a unique handle design that features a cutout for the user's hand to wrap around the G10 grips. However, the blade tang widens out at the pommel end of the knife, featuring several circle cutouts for wrapping a lanyard or a neck loop through. The knife also features a built-in bottle opener at the handle's base for added versatility.

The total length of the Fang Blade is 2.875 inches long with a total overall length of 6.7 inches. The blade is constructed from 1095 carbon steel. The designer of the blade, Robert Cabrera, is a practitioner of a number of Filipino martial arts, specifically Eskrima, Kali and Arnis. He brings his expertise to bear as the new head of the edged weapons division of DoubleStar.

The Fang Blade comes with a Tek Lok Kydex sheath that allows for a wide range of carry options, including inside-the-waistband carry, pocket carry or around the neck. The Fang is made entirely in the USA and retails at a suggested price of $145.90.

The Fang Blade represents one of several new blades out from DoubleStar, which has branched out from its focus on firearms to include other implements for personal defense or professional use. The company also sells its Wrath Tomahawk as part of its edged weapons division.
