Sightmark announced the introduction of its XT-3 Magnifier, which is designed to add to the versatility of close-range red-dot optics by adding mid-range reach for more accurate shooting at extended ranges.

One of the limitations of red-dot optics is the limited range of unmagnified optics. A red-dot optic provides for quick target acquisition at close ranges, but accuracy diminishes as target distance increases. An aftermarket magnifier can provide a level of fixed-power magnification that expands the range of a fixed-power optic to include medium-range target engagement.

The new magnifier is constructed on a 6061-T6 aluminum tube that is surrounded by a rubber-armored housing. The unit is designed to be shockproof, fogproof and is rated IP67 waterproof. The unit features a Picatinny-compatible side-flip mount that allows shooters to quickly transition from close-range targets to mid-range shooting with an easy flip of the unit. The XT-3 Magnifier provides shooters with a 3.5-inch eye relief.

Other features of the new magnifier include multi-coated glass lenses that are designed to improve brightness and resolution. The unit features external adjustments that allow users to align the red-dot reticle to the center of the magnifier, providing a better overall sight picture. The unit features a 23 mm objective lens and provides 3x fixed-power magnification. The total weight of the optic, excluding batteries and mount, is 12.7 ounces.

The XT-3 Magnifier is compatible with EOTech and Aimpoint products and retails at a suggested price of $215.99.
