In anticipation of 2018, Kimber announced the launch of a brand-new series of 1911 pistols. The Kimber KHX 1911 is available in a number of models, all tailored to fit the personal preferences of consumers, whether they're looking for personal defense, concealed carry, competition or home defense reasons.

The company offers five different models in the KHX pistol lineup, and each model in the collection shares a number of features that make up the stand-out elements of a KHX handgun. All of the guns feature specially designed hexagonal texturing on the front and rear of the slide, giving users more room for manipulation while providing a unique aesthetic feature that stands out from other serration designs on the market. In addition to the slabside serrations, the top of the gun also features hexagonal texturing for added grip.

Other features consumers will notice about the Kimber KHX 1911 is the use of distinctive Hogue MagGrip G10 1911 grips, which are aggressively textured for added grip on the handgun in any environment. To match the look of the grips, the mainspring housing on the KHX is also textured with the same G10 material as the grip panels, creating a clean, unified look. To enhance purchase even further, the front of the grip frame features stippling.

Three different sizes are offered in the Kimber KHX 1911 pistol family: Custom, Pro and Ultra. The Kimber KHX Custom 1911 features a 5-inch barrel and is constructed using stainless steel in the frame, slide and barrel for added durability. The gun uses an aluminum trigger that's factory-set between 4-5 pounds, and the overall weight of the gun is 38 ounces. Two different models are offered in the KHX Custom lineup, one with fiber-optic sights and the other with a milled slide ready to receive optics mounting plates for micro red-dot optics from Vortex, Trijicon and Leupold. When a red-dot sight isn't in use, the milled slide is covered by a plate equipped with a fiber-optic rear sight.

The optics-ready setup continues in the Kimber KHX Pro 1911, which is also available in optics-ready and standard-sighted models. The Pro model features a 4-inch barrel and features a bobbed mainspring housing to facilitate easier carry. The final model offered in the KHX lineup is the Ultra, which is built for deep concealment with a 3-inch barrel and a shortened, compact frame.

All available models in the Kimber KHX 1911 pistol series are available in both .45 ACP and 9 mm. The suggested retail price on the five models available in the new-for-2018 KHX 1911 pistol lineup is $1,087.
