Hogue Knives expanded its fixed-blade knife lineup in late 2017, adding the new Hogue EX-F02 with G10 fiberglass-laminate handles for added ruggedness in outdoor environments.

“The EX-F02’s light-weight durable design was created specifically with the outdoors-man in mind,” Hogue Knives Engineer Scott Bruhns said. “Manufacturing the handles in G10 material adds to that durability and creates a visually stunning knife.”

In adding a new model with G10 scales, Hogue developed a new patterning system it calls G-Mascus. This patented technique enables the company to produce patterns that simulate the attractive aesthetics found in Damascus steel, providing knife enthusiasts with a unique-looking blade handle.

G10 has become a go-to material for knives designed for heavy-duty use in rugged environments. G10 is comprised of a fiberglass-laminate composite that's formed under high pressure and produces a material that is exceptionally strong and virtually impervious to damage from chemicals or other environmental factors. The material is machined to provide an ergonomic feel. The handle features a special finger detent and a recessed tail that allow users to better control the blade with a reverse grip.

The construction of the blade itself matches up well with the high-quality construction and durability of the new G10 handle. The blade and tang are made from 154 CM stainless steel, which is both heat- and cryogenically treated for added durability. The blades are then hand-sharpened and honed to a razor-sharp edge.

In addition to the new handle, the company also developed a specially designed sheath that allows for easy carry of the new Hogue EX-F02 knife.

“We knew we had a winner with the EX-F02 design but refused to settle offering the knife alone,” Bruhns said. “The sheath had to match, if not exceed this knife in star power. We have created a sheath so unique it needs to be seen to be believed.”

The sheath is constructed from polymer and features an ambidextrous design and an automatic-retention design that secures the knife in the sheath when not in use. The sheath is compatible with all MOLLE attachment systems.

The Hogue EX-F02 knife is available with clip-point or tanto-style blades and can be had in black, green and dark earth handle finishes. The suggested retail price on the new knives start at $159.95.
