Ruger announced the launch of the LCP II, the successor to the company's popular line of LCP .380 ACP pocket pistols.

The new pistol features a short single-action trigger pull and contains a hammer-fired assembly that is recessed into the slide. The safety consists of a trigger bar that must be depressed before pulling the trigger in order to enable the gun to fire. The single-action pull on the LCP II is greatly improved over that on the LCP. American Rifleman's Joe Kurtenbach measured the trigger pull at six pounds.

The LCP II is chambered in .380 ACP and features a 6+1 capacity. Barrel length is 2.75 inches with an overall length of 5.17 inches. Overall height is 3.71 inches with a width of 0.91 inches. The LCP II weighs in at 10.6 ounces.

The frame is constructed from glass-filled Nylon and the slide and barrel are made from alloy steel. Both the slide and barrel feature a blued finish.

Improvements on the LCP II include an improved grip texture and a larger grip frame to improve the distribution of recoil forces. The gun also features improved fixed sights that are integral to the slide. The slide is designed with improved cocking serrations and will hold open after the last round has been ejected.

The LCP II comes with a pocket holster and one 6-round magazine. The company also includes a finger grip extension floorplate that can be added to the magazine for an improved grip. Current-production magazines for the LCP are backwards-compatible with the LCP II. The LCP II retails at a suggested price of $349.
