Gerber's new Center-Drive Multitool offers a full redesign in order to provide user-friendliness and utilitarian necessities in an easy-to-carry multitool.

The main change in the Center-Drive Multitool is the incorporation of a center-axis full-size driver with a standard bit. This allows users to take advantage of the ergonomics and torquing capabilities found in the design of a standard screwdriver instead of dealing with an offset handle found in most multitools.

The Center-Drive also features a set of pliers that can be opened with a single thumb. A pair of sliding jaws offers instant access to the spring-loaded pliers contained in the multitool. In addition, the new tool also gives users a full-size knife blade that, according to the company, is 30 percent larger than the next largest blade found on a competitor's multitool.

Other tools found on the Center-Drive Multitool include a serrated blade, an awl, wire strippers, ruler, flathead bit, magnetic 1/4-inch bit, cat's paw pry bar, rotatable carbide wire cutters, file, Phillips bit and a bottle opener. The tool comes in a dual-mount sheath.

The Center-Drive Multitool is available Nov. 1, 2016, and it retails at a suggested price of $89.
