We've covered the Niad by designer and world-class climber Hans Florine, and the Hyphenate by CRKT is another knife from the same mold. This version has a fixed-blade design and neck-sheath, and is intended to be a bridge of sorts between the dedicated gear needed for climbing and more utilitarian pursuits.

With an overall length of 4.77 inches and a weight of only 1.2 ounces, the Hyphenate is easy to have on your person. The serrated lower edge of the blade shows the climbing heritage, designed to cut rope quickly, and a tanto-style blade offers a sharp cutting edge and tip.

Constructed of 8Cr13MoV steel with a blade HRC of 58-60, this hollow grind blade contains Veff serrations for maximum cutting power. Included is a glass-reinforced nylon sheath that adds less than an ounce to the total weight, bringing the overall weight of the knife and sheath to a featherweight 2.1 ounces.

MSRP: $29.99.
