Who doesn't love a rip-roarin', eyeball-searing, battery-draining megalumen flashlight? The more power the better, except for one case: when you have to lug it around all day. A full-size 1,000-lumen light running on two CR123 batteries will light up the world like the sun, but it will also make it harder to just toss one in your pocket.
The LA Police Gear LP2 Tactical Pocket flashlight isn't as powerful, but weighs under 2 ounces (with batteries) and offers up to 110 lumens of darkness-shredding light. It has three settings: high, low and strobe, which offer 4, 11 and 7 hours of operation respectively. Power comes from readily available AAA batteries (2 needed, and supplied with the light). It does all this at an MSRP under $20, too.
Operation is quite simple, with a pushbutton cap for instant activation. Push rapidly to cycle through the three settings, from high to low to strobe. There's no memory, though - when you push the button to turn the light back on after any length of time off, it activates to the next setting (i.e. if you have it on high, and shut it off, it goes to the low setting. Low goes to strobe, etc.)
