Could there be any more appropriate time to introduce a new 1911-based pistol than on the birthday of John Moses Browning?

We met with the folks at American Tactical yesterday and were treated to a sneak peak at the company's prototypical polymer .45 ACP pistol. It was stressed that this is definitively still in the planning stages, but we wanted to bring a first look at this exciting new handgun.

With a polymer frame, accessory rail, and ported barrel, it bears little resemblance to the M1911 that shipped off to war with our doughboys in WWI. American Tactical is planning to roll out a complete line of pistols and interchangeable barrels and slides, promising a multitude of caliber options and possible barrel length offerings.

Look for more information on this new pistol in 2015.
