Springfield Armory unveiled the next step in the evolution of its XD series with the introduction of the XD Mod.2 subcompact in 9 mm and .40 S&W. This new handgun builds upon the Point & Shoot Ergonomics the XD brought to the market in 2001, with a redesigned frame called the GripZone.

The Mod.2 was engineered with three unique textures that make up the GripZone, each specifically created for a precise use. The re-contoured and slimmed-down frame allows for easy concealability and increased comfort making it a perfect fit for concealed carry. In addition, the Mod.2 features a magazine that holds 13 rounds, a fiber optic front sight, low-profile extended rear sight, and a no-snag trigger guard.

"The XD series redefined how a polymer pistol should perform. The Mod.2 is raising industry standards even higher, thanks to the GripZone," said Chad Dyer, Springfield Armory's marketing manager.

Springfield Armory is including a special shooting gear package for Mod.2 purchases that comes with a polymer belt holster, double magazine pouch, magazine loader, and a lockable injection molded pistol case with a retail value of $89 free.
