When Gibbs Rifle Company discovered a batch of M1903A3 receivers, the company decided to combine it's skill in building historical reproductions of Enfield rifles with the Springfield platform. The resultant '03-A4 Scout Rifle imitates the Enfield Jungle Carbine, but packs the wallop of five rounds of .30-'06 Sprg. Like all Gibbs products, tremendous attention was paid to historical accuracy, even for a gun that never actually existed. The company created a rifle that mimics what one would want in a Springfield Jungle Carbine, which, of course did not exist, but it does make the '03-A4 Scout a great way to stump a World War II buff, especially since the scope is an exact replica of the war-era M73.
