DMT Maintains Fierce Dedication to Made in America Tradition

The value of American-made products has been on the rise for the past few years. An October 2010 poll by Harris Interactive revealed that 61% of Americans are more likely to purchase an item when advertised as Made in America. A 2009 BIG Research poll showed that 57% of Americans make a conscious effort to buy domestic goods. But 2011 turned an inclination into an all-out movement fueled in large part by the Made in America series on ABC World News. The positive results are undeniable: Companies nationwide have reported record sales of American-made products, citing it as the key to their growth, success, job creation and, in some cases, survival.

While many are jumping on the bandwagon, DMT Diamond Machining Technology has been at the forefront, designing and manufacturing all of its products in the US for more than 35 years.

Recent mentions on ABC World News and Fox Business have affirmed the company's Made in the USA tradition—a practice that translates not only into a source of intense pride, but also into superior quality—and DMT remains committed to producing 100% of its diamond sharpeners at its Marlborough, Massachusetts facility. While the state has seen a dramatic downturn in its manufacturing economy since the mid-1970s, DMT has thrived by developing new products and opening new markets in Europe and Asia.

"We are proud that DMT has continued the tradition of quality manufacturing that Massachusetts has always been known for," said Mark Brandon, president of DMT. Mark and his wife/DMT co-owner, Stacey, are eager to share how Made in the USA is core to the company mission; talk to them at SHOT Show Booth 825.

As a sign of its success in the marketplace, knock-offs of DMT's signature polka dot patterned sharpeners are now made in China. But, owing to its superiority in the category, members of the Chinese speedskating team recently contacted DMT to obtain sharpeners to give their skates the proper edge.

Today, DMT products are exported to more than 27 countries, and this export business accounts for 25% of total revenue. Even during the height of the recession, the company boosted sales 18%. Since 2005, DMT has introduced more than 50 new products, continually availing itself of emerging manufacturing technologies leading to constant innovation, unrivaled quality and a stellar Made in the USA reputation. The company currently holds 11 U.S. and foreign patents.

Simply put, DMT products feature the highest quality materials and workmanship, and achieve the ultimate in convenience and reliability on the water, on the trail or in the camp. That's why, for years, outdoor enthusiasts have turned to DMT to get the perfect edge on their knives, multi-tools, fishhooks, broadheads and other gear.
