LeHigh Defense has been manufacturing specialty bullets for private individuals, other manufacturers and organizations for many years. Now, working with Mike Cyrus of Cross Outdoors, the company will be offering its own line of specialty defense ammunition.

The first of three LeHigh Defense loads I tested is a .45 Colt offering. It was specifically designed for the Taurus Judge revolver, but will work in any .45 Colt firearm. I was involved in the early R&D for this load, and while I'm not a huge fan of the Judge, this is indeed a load to consider. It contains four .45-caliber, spire-pointed, all-copper slugs and is capped with a hollow aluminum bullet. At 5 yards, you will get five holes in the target that spread to about palm's width. In gelatin, you will see penetration from 5 to 16 inches.
