Of all the defensive handgun cartridges, the .357 Mag. is considered by many to be king of the hill, particularly by those that believe in velocity over caliber and bullet weight. Barnes is now offering a line of ammunition called VOR-TX. This .357 Mag. VOR-TX offering is loaded with the company's 140-grain, XPB-HP bullet. At 1,372 fps, it is a handful. The main advantage of this load—as with most XPB defensive handgun loads—is penetration.
