Standard JHP loads seldom get much respect when it comes to self-defense ammunition. It seems the more modern and expensive, bonded and specialty bullets are all the rage. This does not mean standard JHP bullets are not effective. This 115-grain load from Federal performed on par with the 124-grain Speer Gold Dot load with a little less recoil. However, if you plan on having to shoot through tough barriers like wallboard and auto glass, standard JHP bullets like this will typically not hold together as well as bonded bullets.
