These all copper bullets open similar to X-style bullets, but only with four petals. These petals don't fold back along the bullet shank, they stick out 90 degrees to the side. One of the standout loads of the tests was the 70-grain .380 ACP +P load. While penetration was short of moderate, expanded bullets measured .82 inch across their widest frontal dimension. Expansion of over 2.2-times caliber is extremely rare with any load, especially from a .380 ACP. With an average impact velocity of 1,196 fps, this load generates over 200 foot-pounds of kinetic energy. This is well above most other .380 ACP loads.
