AR-15 Upgrades

1. Offered in more than 40 different variants and nearly two dozen chamberings, Wilson Combat’s Recon Barrel (shown in .300 BLK) is an easy way to convert your run-of-the mill .223 Rem/5.56 NATO AR to a heavier hitter. Each is  crafted from the finest American-made, 416R steel and features a hand-polished bore/feed ramp. Flutes spanning the exterior aid in heat dissipation while adding a touch of flair. Choose from seven Armor-Tuff colors or leave it in the white. MSRP: $308.95; wilsoncombat.com

2. Maintaining the same cheek weld, one-piece anti-rotation quick-detach sling mount and non-slip buttpad as the company’s SOPMOD B5 stock, the B5 Systems Bravo boasts the most popular features requested by consumers and offers them in a lighter, more compact and stronger model. It is compatible with mil-spec receiver extensions and includes color-matched steel hardware as well as an improved sure-grip latch to aid length-of-pull adjustments. Choose from nine different colors. MSRP: $61; b5systems.com

3. Tipping the scales at  7.5 ounces, the American-made UTG Pro AR15 Upper Receiver is precision machined from 7075-T6 billet and finished in Type-III, class II, matte-black, hardcoat anodizing. Each is forward-assist compatible and features a flattop, A3, Picatinny-style rail section with 14 T-marked slots for mounting various optics and accessories. The interior includes M4 feed ramp cuts, while the exterior corners have been dehorned and contoured. A barrel nut is included. MSRP: $144.97; leapers.com

4. The Ultradyne Pegasus Muzzle Brake has been engineered to provide effective recoil reduction while simultaneously neutralizing muzzle rise with a smooth, balanced release of blast energy. Top ports divert gases away from and out of the shooter’s line-of-sight, while the progressively sized 90-degree ports at the three- and nine-o’clock positions vent gases at intervals that spread out the recoil impulse for efficient, accurate follow-up shots. MSRP: $145 to $155; ultradyneusa.com

5. All-steel, corrosion-resistant construction helps the Magpul MBUS Pro Hooded Front Sight deliver the same level of durability and performance as the company’s standard MBUS Pro sights. When paired with an MBUS Pro rear sight (sold separately), the new hooded front sight provides a diopter-style sight picture, drawing the eye to a natural focal point while increasing its depth-of-field—enhancing one’s accuracy potential. A built-in thumb wheel on the front sight’s post offers convenient toolless elevation adjustment. MSRP: $94.95; magpul.com
