Mossberg is introducing a twist on the reliable 590 pump-action shotguns, the new 590RM (Magazine Fed) 12-gauge shotguns with Rotary Safety Selector and AR-style ergonomics. New features on this shotgun include a redesigned, user-serviceable fore-end, integrated barrel/single heat shield and an ambidextrous, rotary safety selector. Two versions are available, using the first production double-stack magazines for pump-action shotguns.

Shared features of older models of the 590 and the new 590RM include non-binding twin action bars, positive steel-to-steel lock-up, anti-jam elevator, dual extractors and aluminum receiver that is drilled and tapped to mount an optic.

Introduced in 2018, the Mossberg 590M shotgun shares key features with the new 590RM. At the core is the detachable magazine’s integral stabilizing ribs which engage the magazine directly with notches that are engineered into the receiver for a positive lock-up. The lever-style magazine release button and mounting guide are positioned in front of the trigger guard for ambidextrous access. Accessory magazines are available in 5-, 10-, 15- and 20-round capacities.

Mossberg 590RM Features:

  • Ambidextrous, rotary safety selector with protective guard that can be reached without breaking grip.
  • Mossberg-designed stock with five positions of adjustment (12 to 15.25 inches), interchangeable recoil pad, and two-sided QD cups. The front QD cup is located on the magazine cap.
  • Stock/Base adapter is compatible with other grip designs and accepts most mil-spec stocks.
  • Magpul MOE+ pistol grip.
  • Ergonomically shaped fore-end with a new four-piece attachment that is user serviceable.
  • 18.5-inch barrel with integrated heat shield that is removable.
  • Front M-Lok adapter with dual sided accessory mounting slots at 3- and 9-o’clock positions.
  • Flat profile trigger with smooth, crisp break.
  • Top Picatinny rail for ease of adding optics. Optional Mapgul MBUS 3 sights on select models.
  • Elongated bolt release.

The 590RM is available with either a cylinder choke tube which uses AccuChoke chokes or with a cylinder-bore and a standoff muzzle device. MSRP for either version of the Mossberberg 590RM is $1,190, and more information on these new shotguns as well as other products from Mossberg is available at mossberg.com.
