Nielsen-Kellerman—parent company of Kestrel Ballistics—has acquired the assets of MagnetoSpeed, a leading designer and manufacturer of high quality, durable shooting accessories for the competition, hunting, recreational and military markets. MagnetoSpeed joins Kestrel Ballistics as part of the Ballistics Division, adding to the company’s offerings for civilian and military markets.

MagnetoSpeed was founded in 2012 by three engineers in Texas working to develop a new, more convenient stye of chronograph. The barrel-mounted, electromagnetic model they invented has grown to become a popular choice among today’s enthusiasts. It provides accurate results with no shooting screens to set up or shoot through. The company also makes target-hit indicators and other accessories.

Nielsen-Kellerman was established in 1978 when the founders developed the CoxBox, a stroke meter, timer and amplifier in a single device that makes it easier for a coxswain to accurately perform duties during rowing competition. In 1996 the company launched Kestrel, using the same handheld, all-in-one device approach to measure wind and weather conditions on site, in real time. Today the company’s units are among the most popular in use by long-distance shooters and they are relied upon for a variety of industrial applications across the globe.
