While the popular option for most AR-15 rifles is to add a multi-position collapsible stock, fixed stocks still have their place, particularly on purpose-built precision rifles. With fewer moving parts, fixed stocks offer a solid shooting platform that reduces the number of variables at play when taking a long-range shot. However, a boring, mil-spec, A2-style stock isn't exactly at the top of the must-have list for competition rifles, so Leapers developed its UTG Pro S5 fixed stock to provide consumers with another option.

Made from impact-resistant polymer, the UTG Pro fixed stock is topped with a recoil-absorbing buttpad built with steel reinforcements and covered with overmolded rubber. The stock measures 11 inches in overall length, providing a similar length-of-pull and overall feel as commonly available A1- and A2-style fixed stocks found on precision ARs. The top rib of the stock features a slanted surface that offers a comfortable, fixed cheek rest for the majority of shooters. The rear profile of the S5 stock is also shaped in such a way to comfortably fit into the natural pocket formed by a user's shoulder, allowing the gun to effortlessly slide into the best possible spot for a solid firing position.

One of the unique features found on the UTG Pro S5 fixed stock is the Picatinny accessory rail running on the underside of the unit, providing flexible mounting points for monopods and other accessories. Leapers also plans to roll out cheek-riser attachments compatible with this unique mounting rail. Also found on the stock is a reversible housing for a quick-detach sling-swivel mount, as well as a universal sling-swivel stud.

The stock is designed to fit all standard rifle-length buffer tubes and does not require the commonly used A2 stock spacer for installation. Each stock ships with two Picatinny rail covers that slip over segments of the 6 o'clock rail when not in use. The suggested retail price on the UTG Pro S5 fixed AR-15 stock is $52.97.

MIM Myths

Metal-injection molding (MIM) creates complex, durable and reliable metal parts in things we use daily. Its ability to churn out high volumes at reduced cost endeared it to the firearm industry decades ago. Despite that fact, gun companies we asked about the process were tight lipped.
