More consumers are working on AR-15 upper receivers than ever, thanks to the modularity of the AR platform and the ever-growing aftermarket of add-ons, accessories and other enhancements designed for use on most standard AR-style rifles. However, much of what's required to adjust elements of any AR upper receiver involves torquing, which can damage weaker elements of the receiver. The Real Avid Lug-Lok Vise Block provides a safer, more secure method of keeping an AR receiver locked in a vise for cleaning, maintenance and basic work.

Machined from 7075-T6 aluminum, the block is designed to fit into the steel locking lugs found in the barrel extension of all standard AR-15s. The all-aluminum construction is non-marring and places all torque on the lugs, which are the strongest part of the upper receiver. This prevents any stress on other elements of the upper receiver, avoiding potential damage from placing too much torque on takedown-pin lugs and other aluminum receiver components.

At the opposite end of the Real Avid Lug-Lok Vise Block, a flat, perforated surface allows vise jaws to clamp onto the block securely. Two stainless-steel pins are included with the block, sized to fit into the perforations found on the clamping surface. When the block is locked into place, the pins secure the unit into place by adding solid anchor points that make contact with the upper and lower faces of the vise jaws. This prevents the block from shifting position during work, ensuring that consumers have a rock-solid mount upon which to work. The system ships with a Lock Knob that secures the upper receiver into place while it's secured onto the block, and retaining holes are located around the circumference of the block, giving users the opportunity to orient the receiver at a number of different angles.

The Real Avid Lug-Lok Vise Block is designed for 5.56 NATO/.223 Rem. AR-15s and retails at a suggested price of $69.99.
