Stoeger Industries amped up its home-defense scattergun offerings in 2018 with the introduction of its all-new Stoeger P3000 Freedom Series Defense Pump Shotgun, which provides an additional three rounds in an extended magazine tube.
The original Stoeger P3000 Defense Pump shotgun, reviewed by Shooting Illustrated staff here, is built as an affordable tactical shotgun with all of the essentials needed in a home-defense platform. The all-new Freedom Series builds on that solid foundation, giving tactical shotgunners more capability with a maximum capacity of eight rounds.
Built by trusted shotgun manufacturers in Turkey, the P3000 is loaded with US-sourced parts for 922r compliance, making it ready for the range or your bedroom as a go-to personal-defense gun that won't break the bank.
The Stoeger P3000 Freedom Series Defense Pump shotgun features a straight stock molded from polymer and uses a minimum-length 18.5-inch barrel with a fixed Cylinder-bore choke. The barrel attaches to a machined aluminum receiver treated with a hard-anodized black finish for added durability. The shotgun is chambered in 12-gauge only and can be used with shotshells measuring up to 3 inches long.
Safety is enhanced through the use of a familiar, dependable cross-bolt safety located at the rear of the trigger guard, and the action-lock lever is located at a comfortable position on the right-front side of the trigger guard, allowing users to unlock the action and unload rounds when necessary.
The gun measures in at a total length of 40.5 inches and weighs 6.3 pounds. The fixed stock features a length-of-pull of 14.375 inches, with a drop at the heel measuring 2.5 inches and a drop at comb measuring 1.5 inches. The shotgun also features a simple bladed front sight for easy aiming.
The suggested retail price on the new-for-2018 Stoeger P3000 Freedom Series Defense Pump shotgun is $339.
