Crimson Trace added a new Laserguard model to its product lineup in 2017, announcing the launch of the LG-497 for the new Ruger LCP II pocket pistol. The new laser comes in two models, one outfitted with a red laser diode and the other featuring a green laser diode.

The new Crimson Trace LG-497 Laserguard is designed to be easily adjustable for windage and elevation, and each side of the new Laserguard unit is finished in the same textured stippling as the new Ruger LCP II, ensuring that users have the same look and feel in both their gun and the Laserguard unit. In addition to the stippling, each LG-497 unit also features the Crimson Trace logo featured prominently on the side.

The Laserguard is designed for easy installation and maintenance, and the product is included under Crimson Trace's "Free Batteries for Life" program, meaning that users won't ever have to spend more than the cost of the laser unit on routine maintenance.

The Crimson Trace Laserguard is activated through the company's patented Instinctive Activation system, which turns the system on once a secure firing grip is obtained on the pistol. This ensures that owners have no other switches or pressure pads to worry about when using their firearm in a high-stress, close-quarters defensive situation.

The Laserguard housing is constructed from sturdy polymer and comes in a black finish that matches the frame of the standard LCP II. The instinctive-activation pad features a rubber overmolded finish that ensures users can obtain a secure firing grip on their pistol. Powered by a single 1/3N lithium battery, the laser features a battery life of more than 4 hours. The laser comes from the factory dialed in at 50 feet and produces a 0.5-inch dot at that distance.

The suggested retail price on the Crimson Trace LG-497 Laserguard is $229. For those looking for the green-diode laser option, the suggested retail price for that model is $309.
