First Look: Ruger American Rimfire Stainless Rifle

Ruger added new models to its American Rimfire rifle lineup, providing rimfire aficionados with the ability to purchase stainless-steel versions of its rifles in three different calibers.

The new Ruger American Rimfire Stainless lineup features options in .22 LR, .22 WMR and .17 HMR and are designed to provide shooters with accurate and reliable rimfire rifles for hunting, plinking and target shooting.

The new guns feature barrels, bolts and receivers constructed from 416 stainless steel. The stainless-steel components are hand buffed and then completed with a satin finish. Highlighted touches include a black-finished thread protector, as well as a black bolt release, stock and Picatinny scope rail.

The barrel itself is constructed through a cold-hammer forging method and is free-floated inside of a synthetic stock and measures a total of 18 inches. The muzzle is threaded with a 1/2-28 TPI thread pitch designed to mate easily with a wide number of aftermarket suppressors and other muzzle devices.

The Ruger American Rimfire Stainless features an integral bedding system, trademarked by the company as its Ruger Power Bedding in order to provide the highest level of accuracy. The gun also features Ruger's adjustable Marksman trigger, which can be tuned between 3 and 5 pounds, as well as a rotary magazine designed to provide trouble-free use.

An added feature of the polymer stock is its modular configuration, which enables owners to adjust the rifle to fit any shooter. The stock allows for differing comb heights and an adjustable length of pull. The rifles ship with a high comb installed, as well as a standard length of pull, ensuring that shooters can assume a firm cheek weld with optics mounted on the gun.

The total capacity for the .22 LR rifle is 10 rounds, while the .22 WMR and .17 HMR versions feature a magazine capacity of nine rounds. The total weight of each of the three rifle models is 5.3 pounds. The suggested retail price for the Ruger American Rimfire Stainless is $429.
