Ruger announced the addition of a Precision Rifle model chambered in 5.56 NATO/.223 Rem., offering shooters a low-recoil option that allows for the use of many match-grade offerings in these calibers.

The new Ruger Precision Rifle features what the company calls a "hybrid Target chamber," allowing for the safe use of 5.56 NATO cartridges while allowing shooters to gain as much accuracy out of match-grade ammo in both .223 Rem. and 5.56 NATO. The gun comes with two 10-round magazines that are designed to accommodate the longer-length projectiles that are popular with long-range shooters.

The rifle features a freefloat barrel that is cold-hammer-forged from 4140 chrome-moly steel and features 5R rifling. The barrel features minimum tolerances for bore and groove dimensions designed to provide shooters with improved accuracy, barrel life and ease of cleaning. The barrel features a 1:7 twist rate that is optimized for use with long-for-caliber projectiles.

All Ruger Precision Rifle models come with a left-hand folding stock, along with an adjustable comb height and length of pull, an ergonomic pistol grip and a custom Ruger handguard. The rifle is compatible with the large market of AR-15 accessories. Other features of the rifle include a Hybrid Muzzle Brake, 20-MOA scope base and an adjustable Ruger Marksman Adjustable Trigger with an adjustment range from 2.25 to 5 pounds.

The suggested retail price of the new Ruger Precision Rifle is $1,599.
