CRKT Introduces the Tecpatl Knife

The new Tecpatl knife from CRKT was introduced as part of the company's Forged By War program, allowing combat veterans to cope with the challenges of post-war life by focusing on the design and construction of tools they believe would have helped them on the battlefield.

The Tecpatl Knife was designed by Green Beret Michael Rodriguez of Fayetteville, NC. With more than 21 years of experience in the U.S. Army, his belief in combat fighting rests on the idea of incorporating instinct into movements as much as possible. To this end, he designed what he believes is an ergonomically flawless fighting tool.

The knife hearkens back to the obsidian blade used by Aztec warriors under the same name. The knife is designed for use with a closed fist, enabling the user to slash and penetrate using natural fist movements. The knife features a retention ring that allows for the wearer to use an open hand for grabbing, if needed, without losing the knife.

The Tecpatl features a 3.375-inch plain-edged blade made from SK5 carbone steel. The knife and its stainless-steel handle are coated in a black powder-coat finish, coming in at an overall length of 5.8 inches and a weight of 5.6 ounces. The blade features a sugar-skull laser engraving, as well as a Crusader's Cross and an OSS symbol. Other markings honor the 7th Special Forces Group and the Green Berets, due to the designer's military experience.

The CRKT Tecpatl knife comes with a Kydex sheath and a spring-loaded gear clip that is compatible with MOLLE webbing. The suggested retail price on the new knife is $89.99.
