First Look: Sightmark Element Red-Dot Optic

Sightmark's offering of affordable, durable red-dot optics just got enhanced with the launch of the new Sightmark Element Red Dot sight, designed as an upgraded model of the company's popular Tactical Red Dot sight.

The company added a number of improvements on the new Element red dot, creating a smaller, streamlined, low-profile design that works well with any AR-15. The optic also features a smaller dot that measures 2 MOA in diameter, allowing owners to make more precise shots with their red-dot-equipped rifle. In addition to enhanced precision, the optic provides more flexibility and range in illumination settings with more brightness settings and even two modes that are compatible with night-vision optics. In total, 12 different modes are offered.

In addition to these changes, the company also listened to input and suggestions from a number of consumers to make the Sightmark Element Red-Dot optic better than ever. One issue addressed involved reticle adjustments, and the company expanded the adjustment range to 110 MOA for both windage and elevation and also machined the turret caps with built-in adjustment tools for easy, tool-free zeroing at the range. The company also improved the weather-resistance of the housing and increased battery life, providing as much as 15,000 hours of continuous operation.

Built with a housing machined from 6061-T6 aluminum and coated with a durable, matte-black finish, the new Sightmark Element Red-Dot optic attaches to any standard Picatinny rail and is designed to handle significant recoil. The company rates the optic as being able to withstand consistent shock on rifles chambered up to .338 Win. Mag. and remain damage-free after drops from up to 3 feet. In addition to the shock-resistant construction, the optic is also IP67 waterproof, enabling it to withstand damp, rainy environments without issue. The interior of the housing is nitrogen-purged.

As an added benefit, the included cantilever mount is compatible with the Aimpoint T1 red-dot magnification system and other similar red-dot magnifiers on the market. The Sightmark Element Red Dot sight ships with a pair of flip-up lens covers and retails at a suggested price of $155.99.
