For folks who favor a vertical foregrip, there's a balance to be struck between adding a useful accessory for assisting control during fast strings and sticking something on your rifle that just gets in the way. One of the big benefits of the AR-15 platform is that, given how the rifle easily disassembles into upper and lower pieces, it is quite simple to transport. Stick extra stuff on it, however, and it becomes less easy.

Mission First Tactical's React Folding Grip helps by providing a vertical foregrip that pivots to stow parallel to the upper rather than perpendicular. If you've ever tried shoehorning an upper in a case with another assembled carbine, the savings in space is most welcome indeed. The grip folds by means of a solid, metal button that depresses with a noticeable click and pops out like a turkey timer (sorry, still thinking about last week) when firmly locked in place either stowed or deployed.

The grip itself is polymer with ample stippling on the sides and front/rear to foster solid purchase. There's a single point, raised crossbolt that tightens via a standard slotted screw to keep the grip secure, and it takes up 2.25 inches of rail space. There's plenty of room left for a weaponlight or laser even with the grip attached.

MSRP: $39.99. Available in black, flat dark earth, foliage green, grey and scorched dark earth.
