With a lineage stretching back to the famous Thompson submachine gun, Auto-Ordnance, a division of Kahr Firearms Group, made a name for itself in recent years by producing accessible and affordable variants of classic designs, such as the classic M1911A1 in .45 ACP. Now, the company expanded its handgun lineup with an all-new 9 mm variant of its classic GI-style M1911A1 pistol.

Like the company's original .45 ACP model, the Auto-Ordnance M1911A1 in 9 mm is built on a Government-size frame and features all-steel construction with a matte-black finish like the originals that armed U.S. troops during WWII and beyond. In keeping with the classic design of this iconic military pistol, the slide is machined with vertical rear serrations and include the standard dovetailed rear sight and bladed front sight added to USGI models.

As an authentic copy of the classic 1911A1 model, the frame features the extended beavertail, shortened trigger and scalloped frame that distinguished the A1 model from the original M1911 design. The Auto-Ordnance M1911A1 in 9 mm also features brown plastic grips and a lanyard loop. In terms of markings, the Auto-Ordnance manufacturer's mark is limited to a small section on the right side of the frame just above the trigger. The right side of the slide is blank with the exception of the vertical serrations, while the left side is marked with "MODEL 1911A1 U.S. ARMY," further solidifying its position as an authentic recreation of one of the most popular pistol designs of the 20th century.

The 9 mm model of this Auto-Ordnance gun is, like the .45 ACP model, equipped with a 5-inch barrel. The only discerning differences between the two caliber options in the lineup is the smaller-caliber barrel and the increased capacity of the 9 mm magazine, which holds nine rounds. The company also aims to provide a compact Commander-size model chambered in 9 mm, equipped with a 4.25-inch barrel.

The suggested retail price on the Auto-Ordnance M1911A1 in 9 mm is $673.
