Hornady is introducing two new cartridges that are optimized to work in handguns chambered in 5.7x28mm. Horndady has been able to reduce recoil and limit muzzle flash from this round by using components that ensure reliable cycling and propellants that optimized to burn quickly. The new 5.7x28mm handgun line features two different rounds, a 40-grain FTX bullet in Critical Defense and a 40-grain V-Max in Hornady Black.

The 5.7X28mm 40-grain FTX Critical Defense round is designed from the outset to deliver 100-percent reliability, especially in self-defense situations. The patented Flex Tip technology used in Critical Defense ammunition eliminates the clogging and inconsistency that often plagues hollow point bullets. Reliable expansion and dependable terminal performance can be counted on for concealed carry and personal protection. The Critical Defense round is loaded in nickel-plated cases for increased visibility in low-light situations and uses low flash propellants for performance, even in very short-barreled handguns.

Hornady's 5.7X28mm 40-grain V-Max Black is part of the Hornady Black line, which are versatile loads that are optimized for performance from America’s favorite guns. Both of these rounds come packaged in boxes of 25 rounds each, and more information on this new ammunition or other products from Hornady is available at hornady.com
