I first tested this load for Terminal Tuesday in October 2010. The ammunition used for that test was about 15 years old, and I fired it from a 5-inch-barreled 1911. I wanted to re-test the 185-grain Silvertip load from my carry gun, a Colt Lightweight Commander, but I wanted to use brand new ammo. Why? Sometimes things change with ammo design, especially over the past 15 years. The results, as far as I am concerned, were even better, so it looks like Winchester improved this load. The reason I carry it in my Lightweight Commander is because it is effective, easy to shoot and easy on the gun.
