Kimber has just released the new KDS9c handgun, a new 1911-pattern double-stack 9mm handgun with a 15-round magazine that is optimized for personal protection and EDC (everyday carry). Although this new pistol works off the same action as the classic 1911 pistol and uses a higher capacity double-stack magazine, the new Kimber KDS9c gun is also different from other “2011 style” double-stack 1911s.

Since the new Kimber was engineered with personal protection in mind, it uses an aluminum alloy frame instead of a steel frame to keep the gun’s overall weight more manageable. Besides having a size and weight that are beneficial for personal carry, the KDS9c has a 4-inch barrel that has a slower 1:10-inch barrel twist, the KDS9c should have no problem stabilizing heavier-caliber projectiles.

“This design was influenced by both dealer and consumer feedback; we are confident the market will love this new Double Stack. Since the NRA Show launch, we receive calls/request daily for the KDS9c, and early feedback from the events hosted via our Master Dealer base has been excellent with flawless operation and serviceability at range events,” said Mountie Mizer, Vice President of Sales for Kimber Mfg, Inc.
