Hornady’s popular annual Zombies in the Heartland 3-gun match will take place June 4 to 6 at the Heartland Public Shooting Park in Grand Island, NE. Last year’s event fell victim to health-related precautions during the COVID-19 outbreak, but the exciting competition—ideal for shooters of every skill level—is back on the schedule now that health restrictions are beginning to lift.

General registration for the match is open and shooters, from beginner to expert, are encouraged to attend and help address a “zombie” target spawn that has gone unmanaged for 24 months. With an unusual, challenging course of fire, Zombies in the Heartland attracts shooters from across the country. New and reactive targets have been developed specifically for this match, with most of them either breaking, falling over or moving. Participants will be required to compete with a pistol, rifle, and shotgun, or they can compete with pistol-caliber carbine and shotgun in the PCC Division.

Operated by the Grand Island Parks and Recreation Department, the Heartland Public Shooting Park is the largest and most complete public shooting facility in the Midwest. The facility hosts regional and national events, drawing shooters from around the world. The facility includes RV/Trailer camping with full water and electric hookup—for those enthusiasts who want their lodging to remain at full social distance.

Hornady and the Heartland Public Shooting Park are soliciting support for the match and firms interested in helping can go to the linked web page or contact Sponsorship Coordinator Emily Mierau direct by e-mail. An abridged sponsor match takes place on Thursday, June 3, followed by a reception and prize table at the end of the day for industry participants at Riverside Golf Course.

Hotel rooms can be reserved at the Boarders Inn and Suites, 3333 Ramada Road, Grand Island, NE. Mention Zombies in the Heartland and for a reduced rate.
