Optics are an increasingly vital part of more and more firearms, from traditional rifles to MSRs to shotguns and even ultracompact, concealed-carry handguns. With few exceptions, however, nearly every optic is made overseas, and every manufacturer uses at least one or two components of foreign origin.
Night-vision devices (NVDs) are increasingly available and affordable. One can find everything from products barely qualifying as toys through military-grade thermal optics at a variety of retailers, at prices ranging from less than $100 (for the toys) to the price of a fairly nice car (for the high-end thermal stuff).
While the hot-as-magma market for guns and ammunition has dominated the news, optics are also selling at a record pace. Fortunately, optics manufacturers have been able to develop and introduce a dizzying array of new products, including new thermal & nightvision optics.
