U.S. Air Force and the São Paulo Brazil Military Police Select B&T firearms

In late November, the U.S. Air Force purchased 65 B&T APC9K (Advanced Pistol Carbine) PROs—likely the initial replacements for some of the aging Heckler & Koch MP5s pulling security duty—and last week the São Paulo Brazil Military Police announced its decision to procure B&T APC40 PRO models. The guns are chambered in 9 mm and .40 S&W, respectively.

“B&T is honored to have our APC9K PRO selected by the U.S. Air Force,” said Jon Scott, vice president of sales for B&T USA, which is based in Florida. “We’re pleased to know that specially trained Airmen will be equipped with the finest equipment available to not only ensure their personal safety during challenging assignments, but contribute to the overall success of their mission.”

Early last year the U.S. Army selected the APC9K for use by personal security details assigned to protect high-risk targets. At less than 15-inches in length, the APC9K is optimized for low-visibility carriage, discreet deployment and use in confined space. The submachine gun utilizes a hydraulic buffer and features a dual, auto-folding, non-reciprocating and ambidextrous charging handle, side-positioned bolt hold open/release, removable M4-compatible grip and Magpul M-Lok accessory slots on the fore-end. Additionally, the firearm can accommodate Glock, SIG P320 or proprietary B&T 9 mm magazines by simply switching the non-serialized lower-receiver group.

The São Paulo Brazil Military Police decision to go with the B&T APC40 PRO platform provides cartridge commonality with its recently procured Glock pistols—also chambered in .40 S&W.

“After enduring a rigorous and thorough selection process, B&T is pleased that our APC40 PRO model has been chosen by the officers of the São Paulo Military Police,” Scott said. “This contract also marks the company’s first exportation of U.S.-produced APC40 models, built right here in Tampa, Florida—which, in and of itself, is very exciting for us.”

In addition to B&T’s APC40 PRO models, the São Paulo Military Police will also receive U.S.-produced B&T tri-lug SMG suppressors, unique B&T 30-round Glock magazines and Vicker’s Tactical VCAS two-point adjustable slings with U-Loop attachments by Blue Force Gear.
