SIG Sauer introduced the MCX line earlier this year, with a short-barreled rifle, pistol and carbine rounding out the new offerings. Designed as a platform for the .300 AAC Blackout, the MCX is the rifle-caliber version of the MPX released last year.

The MCX The SIG MCX features a buffer tube-less recoil assembly, allowing a folding stock. The lower receiver has AR-style controls, ambidextrous selector and magazine release. The SIG MCX upper is compatible with mil-spec AR-15 lowers and comes with iron sights and KeyMod handguards.

The .300 AAC Blackout model performed well on the range, functioning perfectly whether suppressed or unsuppressed. The folding stock is comfortable and provides a solid platform, even if it was missing the sproing of freedom...

MSRP: $1,866 (rifle), $2,058 (SBR), $2,132 (Pistol). Available February 2015.
