Most of us love shooting rimfire pistols (aside from recent problems finding fodder, of course). Far fewer enjoy cleaning them.
Ruger's line of .22 LR pistols are particularly vexing, with tips varying from "Don't" to "bring friends" to "grow a third hand" abounding on the internet. The Right Tool LLC decided to do something about streamlining the process by which these excellent handguns were taken down for cleaning and lubrication.
The company's sturdy plastic tool contains a key for assisting in initial takedown, guides to help removing the mainspring pin assembly, separating the grip assembly from the barrel and a small post to remove the spring assembly from the bolt. These same parts of the tool assist in re-assembling the cleaned and lubricated pistol.
The Right Tool is designed to work with Mark I, Mark II, Mark III and 22/45 pistols. It ships with a sturdy cardboard stand to hold the pistol during takedown and assembly.
