When we heard about a Remington 700 chambered in 7 mm Rem. Mag. soon to be offered at a Friends of NRA event that regularly hit steel at 1,000 yards, we couldn't help but ask for a closer look. ]]> With its 24-inch barrel, overall length of the gun is 46 1/4 inches. Despite customization by Best of the West, fire controls like the safety remain in traditional places. Checkering on the wrist ensures positive purchase in foul weather. Magazine and bolt releases are in the standard Remington 700 position. The checkering is finely done on the fore-end of the rifle. Tube diameter is 30 mm and the scope is firmly anchored by Talley rings. Overall length of the Huskemaw Optic is 13.6 inches. The optic was bright and clear, even when dialed up to 20X in relatively low light. A tall, target-style turret allows quick and effortless elevation adjustments. It's customized for the load. A beefy dust cover protects the elevation knob during transportation or storage. The scope is the 5-20x50 mm Huskemaw LR. The stock is far from your run-of-the-mill 700.
