Best bullets I have found by far if u are worried about over penetration. We should all be more worried about protecting the innocents behind the bad guys than about anything else. If u want deep penetrating bullets, they are out there, but these are for the innocent/protector minded. There are certain scenarios that deeply penetrating bullets may come in handy of course, so I would like a magazine of both ready. I'm glad I researched this cuz I would have thought all hollow points would disperse energy very similarly & not over penetrate. I would much rather under penetrate [(]which these are accused of[)] than over. That's what shot #2 & 3 are for.

The idea of this round is penetration only into the perp, and have it stay in them. There are other rounds that work well like the HST but they designed differently, with a different aim. You say a lot of things but provide no proof please show us proof so we can better evaluate your comments validity.

@ DDN sound like you haven't done much research everything I have found on this round had not shown your results, also you fail to cite any facts or data, and don't even link us to anything that you are referring to. I would seem that you need to do more research, if you want to make those claims.

There is a test of the 9mm 105 gr.on youtube. It performed so poorly that he will not be testing any other calibers of Guard Dog. I doubt Federal will be carrying this product much longer.

" It expands well but, it’s loaded relatively weak. So it suffers from lack of penetration."

So you are saying you would have no issue to be shot with Guard Dog ammo? You should post a youtube vid. I would love to see how many hits you can take.

It is a horrible round. The only reason It exists is to try and sell hollow points in places you can’t sell hollow points. It expands well but, it’s loaded relatively weak. So it suffers from lack of penetration. Also when expanded the edges are rounded so it allows tissue to flow around it without damaging it, leaving a hole smaller than the bullet. Most hollow points have sharp edges allowing them to cut as they penetrate. To add insult to injury federal was marketing a more powerful version of this to law enforcement in their EFMJ line. It wasn't very successfully, so they reduced the weight of the bullets, lowered the velocity and dyed the polymer blue. So all and all it's just a watered down version of a failed product, but then again, I suppose it's the best you can get if you live in the People’s Republic of New Jersey and it still better than a sharp stick. Gold Dots are top of the line as are Ranger T, HST, and PDX1. Personally I like Corbon DXP.
