It was a mad dash for supplies
Posted by GuySagi, Today, 03:53 AM

My neighbor Matthew called all the neighbors, took orders and tried to get out to the store for supplies. Notice in the first photo the rear view mirror of a stuck vehicle he's speeding past. The snow flying in the second photo says it all in regard to his speed up the hill.

But I had my 70 yard long, 40 inch deep ditch down to my truck, so I chained up and got supplies at a much slower pace.
Snow bulldozer came through (too much snow for a plow)

This is one of the side roads in my homeowner's division....ummm, can you say stuck.

The road above my house looked a little better.

Then a real bulldozer came through.

And further buried the three trucks ditched or crashed on the hill leading out of my house. I guess they'll move during the spring thaw.
Late-breaking news
Posted by GuySagi, Yesterday, 12:57 AMWe're now expecting 10 to 20 inches of additional snow tomorrow and Wednesday.
By Saturday afternoon, the clouds parted

With power intermittent, after what a neighbor measured at 40 1/2 inches, no one could get on or off the Blue Ridge. Yes, my truck is under there somewhere.

Even getting to and from my home was an ordeal, with two of the doors buried in drifts.

Mother Nature, of course, ended the heavy snowfall with a beautiful sunset. You might note the lack of lights (electricity) in the distance. It's on now, but I had to wait for power to even post updates.
Stay tuned, 3 to 6 more inches of snow are on the way Tuesday and Wednesday.
Then the storm began in earnest

Part way through the storm on Saturday, the power died and I stayed warm by digging a trench toward the road....a 36-inch deep trench as it turned out.
Blizzard of 2010, from the Blue Ridge
Posted by GuySagi, Feb 8 2010, 04:03 PM
The snow started slow on Friday up here on Virginia's Blue Ridge.

Even the deer didn't seem to know what was coming early in the morning.

This yearling even looks like it's trying to catch a snowflake on its tongue.

But it wasn't long until the snow got heavier and finding food became a huge priority for the wildlife.
Super Bowl Security

“Don’t ask, don’t tell” on guns

A presentation in Britain on the methods law enforcement uses in gun crimes has been cancelled because organizers thought it would glorify the bad guys.
It must be tea time somewhere.
New Smith & Wesson M&P15-22
Posted by GuySagi, Feb 4 2010, 11:26 PM

Yes, it looks like its bigger M&P brother that is chambered in .223 Rem. But, it digests .22 LR rimfires.

Even the flash hider makes it hard to tell the difference.

The pistol grip is also familiar.

Magazine capacity is 25, although 10-round versions are shiped to areas with restrictions on magazine size.

The adjustable rear sights is removable and the charging handle actually works.

A quad rail fore-end allows the mounting of acceesories.

It's hard to tell the difference between these rimfire receivers and the bigger, centerfire versions.

It comes with an adjustable stock.

As for real trigger time, I'll let you know when we get one of these new Smith & Wesson M&P15-22s in to really test.
