Armed criminals should avoid Jupiter Farms in Florida

When a trio of bad guys with a pump shotgun decided to target a house in a residential area of Florida called Jupiter Farms, the result was not what they expected. The homeowner met them in the driveway with his own gun.
The newspaper account explains, "It's no secret that much of Jupiter Farms, an unincorporated swath of pine tree-studded acre lots, elegant mini-mansions, rugged ranch homes and rural individualism, is heavily armed. And after two brazen home-invasion robberies and one attempt this month, some residents are buying new bullets and brushing up on Florida's self-defense laws."
No shots were fired and after a short facedown the bad guys beat a hasty retreat. Not exactly Earth-shattering news, until you read the newspaper account. It seems the guy across the street is a gun-owning Vietnam vet, who said, "If they get inside my house, they'll die." Two other nearby homeowners also rely on guns for self-defense.
That's my kinda neighborhood.
