Hugh O'Brian--Wyatt Earp Limited Edition
On Jan. 20, Colt brought in one very special gunslinger to introduce a new, limited-edition set of Colt single-action revolvers at the Shooting Hunting and Trade Show in Las Vegas, Nev. Hugh O'Brian, who played Wyatt Earp on television in the '50s and '60s, was on hand to roll out the new line and an autograph-hungry crowd quickly gathered.
Both revolvers are chambered in, of course, .45 Colt. Each set includes a 12-inch barreled "Buntline," like O'Brian used on the television show, and a duplicate of the 4 3/4-inch barreled revolver he also carried. As for carry, John Bianchi's Frontier Gunleather has introduced a faithful recreation of the holster set employed to carry both guns in the show. Holsters will also be serial numbered and custom fit to the owner's waist and hip sizes as well as carrying a Hugh O'Brian Wyatt Earp signature stamp.
The revolvers have a color-casehardened frame and hammer, with Colt's renowned polished, blued finish. "Hugh O'Brian--Wyatt Earp Tribute" is etched into each of the gun's barrels and O'Brian's signature is engraved on the backstraps. Grips are made of walnut.
The set is housed in a glassed, French-fitted walnut case with a drawer underneath. A certificate of authenticity is also provided with the firearm serial numbers as well as a replica Marshall's badge.
Cost of this special set is $4,712 with the gunbelt sold separately for $850. Sets will be available beginning in March of 2010.
